My Song :) I'm Not Alright Sanctus Real

Extra Ticket to Japan

   "Hey, um Brandy?"
   "Yes?" she replied hesitantly.
"You know that trip to Japan that I'm going on?"
"Yeah. What about it? I'm going to know the full details for my parents in order to go. You said you could bring a friend, right?"
"Right, but I was thinking about taking Abby. I spend a lot of time with you in the summer, but I'll hardly see her with camp, youth, if I get a job, and for when she goes to Michigan. It's the only time we could have a chance to spend together."
"She has you during the school year. Breaks are my only Kreesten time. Anthony and Sean had to learn that."
"Yes, but in the school year, I still see you twice a week. I never see her on breaks."
"No. We decided a long time ago that breaks are my time and school is Abby's and everyone else's time."
"Ugh. I feel like a kid with divorced parents!"
"You ARE a kid with divorced parents."
   "Oh yeah."
"Fine, but remember, I'm probably better at getting around. Does Abby know how to take care of you? Does she know your difficult eating habits? Does she know how to deal with your morning mood swings? Does she realize that you're most grumpy when you're hungry? Can she handle you after a week? Does she-"
"Hey! You can stop now! Geez. You act like I'm difficult to be with or something."
   "You are."
"No I'm not! Well anyways, I'm taking Abby."
"Alright. Have fun in Japan." She said doubtfully.

"I'm Not Alright" Analysis

For my song, I chose “I’m Not Alright” by Sanctus Real. The lyrics move me because it is what I believe. I don’t mean to offend anyone, and I’m sorry if I do. God is a big part in my life and this song focuses on how without him, we’re not strong. We break down easily. We are full of weaknesses and the need to impress the people around us, whether we’re aware of it or not.
“If weakness is a wound
That no one wants to speak of
Then “cool” is just how far we have to fall”
When I’m broken or falling apart, is when I’m led to God. It’s when I realize how I need to be closer to him again. I need to have that personal relationship with again.
“I’m not alright
I’m broken inside, broken inside
And all I go through
It leads me to you, it leads me to you”
He doesn’t take away life’s problems, but I believe his love takes away the pain of them.
“I am not immune
I only want to be loved
But I feel safe behind the firewall
Can I lose my need to impress?”
This song is full of emotion because it talks about that time before you get into God, before his love washes over you, the time you feel most alone.
“I’m not alright
I’m broken inside, broken inside
And all I go through
It leads me to you, it leads me to you
I’m not alright, I’m not alright, I’m not alright...that’s why I need you”
I need my strength, the one I lean on. I need the love of my savior, Jesus Christ.

The half drawn curtain moved...

The half drawn curtain moved and little Jayden's feet were sticking out. I knew he was there, yet I went to other rooms asking the empty space where Jay Jay was. There would be silence. I complimented his great hiding skills as his giggles answered in response as he taunted me of how I could never find him from a further away room. I finally went back to where he was hiding. I snuck up to the curtain and pulled it back. The little boy looked at me and said "Boo!" I was a little confused until he ran off saying "It's not over till you catch me!" I laughed and accepted the challenge. I was of course three times his heighth and could catch him easily. That was until the smell of dinner filled the building. No four year old could possibly resist mac and cheese. I sat at the table waiting for him to return when he finally runs up and exclaims "I caught you!" Wasn't I supposed to be the one catching him? This kid couldn't follow his own rules, but he smiled so brightly with his small white teeth showing. He jumped in excitement, so I gave in and admitted my defeat. There wasn't any use in arguing with Jayden. Besides, it was dinner time.
